Jeff Stelling predicts 2026/27 Premier League table and tips shock side for relegation

Jeff Stelling has made his predictions for the 2026/27 Premier League season, including a surprise tip for relegation.

The new campaign gets underway next Friday (August 21) with champions Arsenal hosting newly promoted Coventry.

That’s the first of 380 top-flight games to be played between then and May, with plenty of twists and turns inevitable.

But Stelling has already put his neck on the line by naming his picks for the title, European qualification and the drop.

Predicting the full Premier League table on talkSPORT, Stelling backed Arsenal to retain their title with Chelsea as runners-up, followed by Manchester City in third and Manchester United in fourth.

He placed Tottenham fifth – which has been enough for Champions League qualification in each of the last two campaigns – and Liverpool sixth, with Newcastle seventh and Aston Villa eighth.

Fulham to fall?

However, perhaps Stelling’s most eye-catching prediction came at the bottom end of the table, where he felt Fulham would go down.

Joining Stelling on air, Peterborough chairman Darragh MacAnthony and former Villa striker Gabby Agbonlahor voiced their conerns over Fulham.

As well as Alvaro Arbeloa replacing Marco Silva as head coach, the Cottagers have lost key players this summer such as Harry Wilson and Raul Jimenez.

Between them, Wilson and Jimenez accounted for more than a third of Fulham’s Premier League goals last term.

“We called it as well, like two weeks, three weeks ago, didn’t we, about Fulham,” noted Agbonlahor. “We agreed that that’s our team that could be under pressure…”

Stelling believes that Fulham could be in “big, big trouble” in the upcoming campaign.

The Cottagers’ ostensible replacements for Wilson and Jimenez are youngsters Cesar Palacios and Gonzalo Garcia, both of whom have followed Arbeloa from Real Madrid.

And while striker Garcia scored six LaLiga goals at an average of just over one every 30 minutes last season, it remains to be seen how he’ll fare in the more testing environment of the Premier League.

Stelling positive about Sky Blues

While he tipped Fulham to be relegated alongside newly promoted Ipswich and Hull, Stelling joined MacAnthony in backing last term’s Championship winners Coventry to survive – putting them 15th in his table.

Justifying his decision, he said: “Coventry…spent a lot of money – not on a huge number of players actually. They’ve chosen quality over quantity.

“Scored a lot of set-plays last season and that could be big for them again this season.”
