Mike Trout’s son says he will be better than his dad someday
Mike Trout has accomplished just about everything a baseball player can dream of. Three American League MVP awards. Eleven All-Star selections. More than a decade as one of the sport’s most feared hitters. For many, Trout is already one of the greatest players of his generation.
But if you ask his son Beckham Trout, the Angels superstar’s accomplishments may eventually be overshadowed. In a recently shared moment that quickly caught the attention of baseball fans, Beckham was asked a simple question:
“Are you going to be better than your dad?”
His answer didn’t come with any hesitation.
“YES!”
“Are you going to be better than your dad?”
“YES!”

With the 2026 All-Star Game a few hours away, Trout will be leading off for the American League. There won’t be many All-Star appearances left for Trout, so we must cherish every remaining one. His play on the field does not seem to be slowing down any time soon, but at 34-years-old, it’s rare to keep up that All-Star pace for an entire career. If anyone can do it, Trout can.
Soon enough, his son Beckham will be on the diamond making plays like his father. Whether he ever reaches the major leagues remains to be seen. Whether he becomes better than his father is an even taller order. But for now, Angels fans can enjoy the image of a future hopeful who isn’t setting the bar low. After all, if you’re going to dream, you might as well dream bigger than Mike Trout.
First pitch of the 2026 ASG is at 8:00 ET/5:00 PT on FOX.
