Bengals’ Dohnte Meyers makes case for 53-man roster with huge game vs. Eagles

The Cincinnati Bengals are in an interesting situation after the preseason finale victory against the Philadelphia Eagles. With the roster deadline set for Sunday, Dohnte Meyers is making a good case for himself to make the cut for the 53-man roster.

In the first half of the game against the Eagles, Meyers was in full bloom. The intriguing wide receiver helped the Bengals build a 9-3 lead with a season-high 51 yards. He is not letting any doubt creep in between him and a final roster spot.

After beating the Eagles, Bengals head coach Zac Taylor also gave Meyers his flowers for being consistent throughout the training camp, something he says tells a lot about the talented WR’s mindset.

“There’s a lot of guys that come out to training camp, kind of in Dohnte’s shoes,” Taylor said during postgame media interaction. “You know, it’s the first chance to make an impression in a camp. And in the first week, ten days, they make a splash, and then they fizzle out. He’s been consistent throughout, and so I think that says a lot about him. He’s trying to take advantage of the opportunity. He’s done a great job of that.”

Widely considered one of the Bengals’ training camp MVPs, it makes sense that fans have come to love Meyers’ story and work ethic. With the preseason now in the books, Meyers will find out in the next few days if he has made the Bengals roster and what kind of role he could play in their offense in 2026.
