Miguel Rojas returns to Dodgers lineup after his father’s passing
The Los Angeles Dodgers have gotten off to a hot start to the 2026 MLB season, currently sitting at 9-2 after a recent road win over the Toronto Blue Jays in a rematch of last year’s World Series. Recently, the Dodgers got a tough status update when it was announced that Miguel Rojas was scratched from the lineup to attend to a family matter, which was later revealed to be the passing of his father.
On Wednesday, the Dodgers got another update on Rojas’ status for that day’s series finale vs the Blue Jays.
“Miguel Rojas is in the Dodgers lineup today,” reported Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic on X, formerly Twitter.
Rojas will start for the Dodgers at shortstop on Wednesday and take the final spot in their hitting order.
Of course, it was Rojas who saved the day for the Dodgers in Game 7 against the Blue Jays last year, launching a home run in the top of the ninth inning to keep Los Angeles’ season alive and send the game into extra innings, where they eventually won, courtesy of a Will Smith home run.
It will surely be an emotional moment for the hero to be back in Toronto, where the heroics occurred, on Wednesday in the wake of his family tragedy.
Overall, the Dodgers have been performing at an elite level thus far in 2026, showing off their elite talent and versatility at seemingly every area of the field.
Their series finale against the Blue Jays is slated to get underway at 3:07 pm ET.
