Michigan’s Yaxel Lendeborg drops ‘awful’ admission at halftime vs. UConn
As expected, Michigan is in a dogfight with Connecticut in the national title game in the NCAA Tournament at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis on Monday.
The Wolverines went into the break with a slim lead, 33-29. It must have felt good that they had the advantage, even though Yaxel Lendeborg only had four points on 1-of-5 shooting in 20 minutes.
Before heading back to the locker room, Lendeborg admitted that he was not satisfied with his performance in the first half.
“I feel awful, I feel super weak right now. I can’t make anything. Oh, man. I’m trying to push through it, obviously, because it’s the championship game and all that,” said Lendeborg.
“I missed some plays that I don’t usually miss. I had many opportunities to take advantage of a smaller defender, but I haven’t been able to do it. I’m going into the half, do the best I can to feel a lot better and come out here more aggressive.”

The Big Ten Player of the Year has been nothing but an offensive force for Michigan all season. He was averaging 19.0 points in the NCAA Tournament before facing UConn.
The 23-year-0ld Lendeborg suffered a bone bruise, a sprained MCL, and an ankle injury in the Final Four against Arizona. Still, he pushed through, contributing 11 points, including 3-of-3 shooting from long distance, and three rebounds in 15 minutes.
Even though he was hobbled, Lendeborg vowed to play against UConn to end his collegiate career.
As of writing, the Wolverines are still ahead of the Huskies in the second half.
