Mammoth sign HC Andre Tourigny to multi-year contract extension

The Utah Mammoth have signed head coach Andre Tourigny to a multi-year contract extension, the club announced Monday. Per team policy, contract terms were not disclosed.

Tourigny will enter his third season as head coach of the Mammoth. Across 164 games behind the bench with the franchise, he has compiled an 81-64-19 record and a .552 points percentage. In the 2025-26 season, he led Utah to a 43-33-6 record and 92 points, improving on the team’s 89-point total from the year before. That campaign also included the Mammoth’s first-ever playoff appearance in its second season in Utah, where the team finished sixth in the NHL’s Central Division before losing in six games to the Western Conference champion Vegas Golden Knights.

Tourigny’s success with the Mammoth comes after his earlier tenure with the organization during its Arizona Coyotes era. Overall, the franchise has posted a 170-195-45 record over 410 games under his leadership dating back to 2021. He took over the Coyotes in 2021 and remained with the team through its relocation to Utah in 2024, helping guide the transition into a new market while maintaining continuity for the roster and staff.

One of the hallmarks of Tourigny’s tenure has been the development of core players including Clayton Keller, Nick Schmaltz, Lawson Crouse, Dylan Guenther, Logan Cooley, Jack McBain, Barrett Hayton, and goaltender Karel Vejmelka, all of whom have helped form the foundation of the organization.

Tourigny is one of the NHL’s longest-tenured head coaches, with only Jon Cooper, Jared Bednar and Rod Brind’Amour having served longer in their current roles. He previously spent time as an NHL assistant coach with the Colorado Avalanche from 2013 to 2015 and the Ottawa Senators in 2015-16, and later coached major junior hockey with the OHL’s Ottawa 67’s, where he won OHL Coach of the Year twice (2018-19, 2019-20) and the CHL Coach of the Year award in 2019-20.

Internationally, Tourigny has coached Canada across multiple tournaments, including gold at the 2023 IIHF World Championship as head coach and additional medals at other IIHF events, including silver at the 2021 World Junior Championship and multiple World Championship appearances as assistant and head coach.
