Lynx’s Olivia Miles becomes 4th member of impressive Caitlin Clark WNBA club

The Minnesota Lynx exacted revenge on the Atlanta Dream, running away with the double-digit victory, 96-81, at Target Center on Wednesday. The Lynx lost to the Dream in their season-opening matchup.

Minnesota has now won three straight games, improving to 5-2. Atlanta, on the other hand, dropped to 4-2.

All five starters of the Lynx scored in double figures, led by Courtney Williams with 25 points on 10-of-15 field goals. She added three rebounds and seven assists. Natasha Howard added 22 points on 11-of-16 field goals, eight rebounds, five assists, two steals, and two blocks.

Olivia Miles, meanwhile, contributed 16 points, five rebounds, and eight assists. According to ESPN Insights, Miles became just the fourth player in league history to average at least 15 points, five rebounds, and five assists through their first seven games.

She joined Candace Parker, Caitlin Clark, and Sabrina Ionescu.

The 23-year-old Miles is having an impressive rookie campaign after the Lynx drafted her as the second overall pick.

She was coming off a standout one-year stint at TCU, putting up 19.6 points, 7.2 rebounds, 6.6 assists, and 1.8 steals. She carried the Horned Frogs to the Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament.

Miles spent four years at Notre Dame before transferring to TCU.

Lynx coach Cheryl Reeve has repeatedly gushed about the potential of Miles. But Reeve is also making sure that the young playmaker does not get too comfortable, stressing that the WNBA is serious business.

It has also helped a lot that Miles is getting pointers from Minnesota assistant coach Lindsay Whalen, who is one of the greatest players in league history. Whalen won three championships with the Lynx.
