LSU lands commitment from 5-star two-sports recruit

LSU football is delivering a stellar Sunday on the College Football Recruiting trail. The Tigers began by landing star junior college talent Lavonte Williams. Now Lane Kiffin and company reeled in a five-star talent, who also stars in basketball.

Tight end Ahmad Hudson chose LSU Sunday afternoon, with On3/Rivals confirming the move. He’s more than one of the nation’s top TE recruits, as he ranks No. 25 nationally in basketball rankings.

Hudson rises as a major local win for the incoming head coach too, as the ’27 talent hails from Ruston, La. Kiffin and LSU gains the No. 16 prospect for his position here as well.

Was LSU the only major power in the picture, though? Hunter Shelton of On3/Rivals pulled back the curtain there.

“It ultimately came down to the local SEC program and Nebraska for Hudson,” Shelton wrote.

Hudson even delivered a change of heart on his original recruiting plan.

“He was originally eyeing a July decision, but opted not to waste anymore time and surprised everyone with a surprise commitment on Sunday,” Shelton said.

LSU trended up for Hudson in recent weeks once Kiffin was sworn in. His predecessor Brian Kelly and his regime also offered Hudson before Kelly’s firing. But Hudson revealed the newest LSU leader sent him a “good luck” text message before playing for a state championship game, which won over the offensive weapon.

Kiffin additionally leaned into assistants Charlie Weis Jr. and TEs coach Joe Cox to court Hudson. But those three aren’t the only ones who’ll coach Hudson, as men’s basketball coach Will Wade gains him too.
