Yankees rumors: Here’s exactly what New York needs at trade deadline

The New York Yankees have been scuffling at the plate over the last month or so, and they certainly could use some reinforcements before the MLB Trade Deadline. FOX Sports MLB’s Ken Rosenthal shared exactly what those needs are before the Yankees squared off against the Chicago Cubs.

“They are still looking for bullpen help, but they also could add a starter, and ultimately move Ryan Weathers or Will Warren to the bullpen… Since June 18th, the Yankees, the New York Yankees, are last in the Majors in runs per game,” Rosenthal said. “They need a right-handed hitting catcher, and they also could use another bat. Pretty much could put him anywhere.”

After such a scorching offensive start to the season, it has been surprising to see how much the Yankees have struggled to score runs recently. Until Aaron Judge, Cody Bellinger and Giancarlo Stanton return to the lineup, adding a new bat to the roster would likely do wonders for the Yankees’ second-half surge.

Luckily for New York, Rosenthal didn’t mention anything about needing starting pitching. The Yankees might have the most feared rotation in baseball outside of the Los Angeles Dodgers, and with Max Fried recently returning to the fold, the Bronx can feel confident depending on their starters heading into October.

With the trade deadline coming up on Monday, stay tuned to see if the Yankees trade for another bat to bolster their lineup. For now, the Yankees will depend on their stellar rotation to keep them afloat in the AL East standings.
