Astros’ Carlos Correa leaves door open for return from injury this season

Houston Astros star Carlos Correa is recovering from an ankle injury. When he suffered the injury earlier in the season, it seemed as if Correa would end up missing the remainder of the 2026 campaign. That may not be the case, though. According to Brian McTaggart of MLB.com, Correa told reporters on Saturday that he is not ruling out a return this season.

“I wouldn’t be doing all this work if I didn’t think there was a chance,” Correa added, via McTaggart.

Correa, 31, hit .279/.369/.418 across 32 games played before suffering the injury. The three-time All-Star would obviously love to return at some point in 2026 and help the Astros make a postseason push. It remains to be seen if he will play again this year, however.

At the moment, Houston holds a half-game lead over the Texas Rangers for first place in the American League West standings. The Astros bounced back following a difficult start to the season. Their performance in recent action has been especially impressive since they have battled back in the standings without Correa. A potential Correa return would still unquestionably help them down the stretch of the season.

Updates on Carlos Correa’s injury recovery will continue to be monitored and provided as they are made available. Meanwhile, the Astros are focused on their upcoming games and making potential trades before Monday’s MLB trade deadline. On Saturday night, Houston is scheduled to play Texas at 7:10 PM EST in what should be a competitive game. The trade deadline is scheduled for 6 PM EST on Monday, August 3.
