Latest Aaron Judge injury update suggests return to Yankees is near

New York Yankees star Aaron Judge is continuing to recover from a rib injury. It seems as if Judge could return rather soon. The latest update confirms that Judge is indeed trending in the right direction, via Greg Joyce of New York Post Sports.

“Aaron Judge hit off the Trajekt machine before the Yankees left NY, Boone said. No Trajekt available on the road, but they can have him face high-velocity pitching machines this week. Continues to respond well,” Joyce reported on Tuesday.

The Yankees want him to see high velocity so he can get his timing back. Since he is likely not going to go on a rehab assignment, turning to high-velocity machines makes sense.

Judge, 34, has been limited to 59 games played this season due to the injury. He has not appeared in a game since late May.

The good news is that Judge should have a few weeks left in the regular season once he returns to prepare for the MLB playoffs, barring any setbacks of course. The Yankees are hopeful that Judge will be ready to go for the postseason. It goes without saying, but New York needs Judge to be at his best in October.

For now, the Yankees are focused on their current series against the Los Angeles Angels in Anaheim. First pitch for their game on Tuesday night is scheduled for 9:38 PM ET at Angel Stadium.
