Lamar Jackson draws take from teammate that will catch fans’ attention

The Baltimore Ravens are entering a new era on offense, and tight end Mark Andrews believes it could elevate Lamar Jackson’s game even further. Speaking with CBS Sports, Andrews discussed Baltimore’s transition to first-year offensive coordinator Declan Doyle, saying the new scheme differs significantly from anything he and Jackson have experienced during their NFL careers.

“This is a different offense than we’ve been a part of since we got into the league — it’s totally different than anything we’ve done,” Andrews said. “I think [Jackson’s] going to make it his own, adapt to it and be the best that there is. That’s the type of person that he is and that’s the type of guys and coaches that we have. I think that’s a scary sight when you see Lamar Jackson adding new things to his repertoire.”

The changes come after the Ravens moved on from longtime head coach John Harbaugh following the 2025 season, ushering in a new coaching staff led offensively by Doyle. At 29 years old, Doyle is one of the NFL’s youngest coordinators despite already having nearly a decade of coaching experience.

Doyle began his coaching career as a student assistant at Iowa before spending four seasons with the New Orleans Saints as an offensive assistant. He later served as tight ends coach with the Denver Broncos before joining the Chicago Bears, where he helped oversee an offense that improved from last in the NFL in total yards in 2024 to sixth in 2025.

Now, Doyle will be tasked with maximizing one of the league’s premier quarterbacks. If Andrews’ assessment is any indication, the Ravens believe Jackson’s best football could still be ahead of him under the team’s new offensive system, led by new head coach Jesse Minter.
