Lakers players turn Slovenia trip into unexpected bike race

The Los Angeles Lakers’ trip to Slovenia this offseason shows that the team has become Luka Doncic’s to lead primarily in the aftermath of LeBron James’ departure in free agency.

And it looks like the Lakers are enjoying their time in Ljubljana, the capital city of Slovenia. In fact, on Sunday, Dalton Knecht, Jarred Vanderbilt, and Adou Thiero had a competitive bike race in the streets of the city along with new signing Collin Sexton, showcasing the team’s strong chemistry.

In the eight seconds of the clip that was posted, it looked like Knecht had built an early lead in the bike race among them four — with Sexton trailing by around a few inches. Depending on how long the race was slated to go, this slow start may prove to be a disaster for Sexton.

Thiero and Vanderbilt were riding at the same pace, but Knecht has them all beat. Perhaps the Lakers’ sharpshooting guard has significantly more experience riding a bike with speed than the other three.

Whatever the case may be, the Lakers fanbase has to be thrilled to see their new-look roster get along quite nicely. Doncic’s presence surely must have had a significant influence on the front office’s roster moves, and it’s now up to them to make it work.

The Lakers added a total of nine new players to the roster this offseason, with six of them coming in free agency (Walker Kessler, Sandro Mamukelashvili, Quentin Grimes, Sexton, Matisse Thybulle, Kevon Looney, Ziaire Williams). The other two came via trade (Jaden Hardy) and via the draft (Cameron Carr).

It is imperative for the Lakers players to not just learn each other’s tendencies on the court, but also learn to get along well off of it, and they appear to be doing a good job at that at present.
