Lakers fans ready to being up 3-0 without Luka Doncic, Austin Reaves (add reax)

The Los Angeles Lakers seemed down and out against the Houston Rockets on Friday. But LeBron James’ heroic game-tieing 3-pointer and Marcus Smart hitting three big free throws in the final seconds, catapulted them to take a 3-0 lead in the Western Conference first-round playoff series.

All without Luka Doncic and Austin Reaves on the floor.

With the Lakers in total command, the fans took to social media to express their excitement.

“No Luka. No Reaves for most of it. LeBron has the shorthanded Lakers up 3-0. This is HISTORIC” @RazedNBA posted on X, formerly Twitter.

Another user noted that an aging LeBron, without Doncic and Reaves, defied all those who had the Rockets winning.

“LAKERS 3-0. Sweep incoming? * NOT NEW TO THIS . LeBron, age 41, just went into Houston without his 2 best scorers and took a 3-0 lead vs KD. The “experts” had Rockets as heavy favorites. Lakers said “bet”.

Sweep watch is officially on.”

Then, a Golden State Warriors fan chimed in, essentially saying the Rockets are done for.

“Without Austin Reaves and Luka Doncic btw. @HoustonRockets, just shut down your franchise. ”

Doncic is out with a hamstring injury, whereas Reaves is battling an oblique injury. Reaves is expected to make a return, while Doncic’s road to recovery is much more difficult.

Doncic and Reaves have carried much of the Lakers’ offense all season long. In their absence, the Lakers are having to rely upon James and others.

Game 4 is on Sunday in Houston at 9:30 EST, and Game 5, if necessary, will be on Wednesday (April 29) in Los Angeles.
