Knicks superfan Billy Baldwin gives fans look at Game 2 suite with Spurs legends Gregg Popovich, Tim Duncan
The San Antonio Spurs have their backs fully against the wall right now as they head to New York down 0-2 in the NBA Finals to the Knicks. The Spurs had a chance to win Game 2 on Friday with a late comeback, but Victor Wembanyama’s ill-timed missed communication with Stephon Castle ultimately ended up being the difference in the game.
In attendance for that game was Knicks superfan Billy Baldwin, who recently revealed on Instagram that he was taking in the festivities with Spurs legends Gregg Popovich and Tim Duncan.
“I am a long time NBA fan and consider Coach Pop to be one of the greatest coaches and finest human beings in the history of all sports… professional, college, anywhere,” wrote Baldwin in part of his caption.
Popovich and Duncan probably wished they could have been on the floor to help out the Spurs during their ugly performance in Game 2, which featured another rough start from Wembanyama in the first half. Although the MVP candidate was able to turn things around in the second, he ultimately saw his potential game-winning jumper hit the back of the rim and drop out, giving the Knicks a commanding 2-0 lead as the series shifts to New York.
Going down 0-2 at home is typically considered a death sentence in the NBA playoffs. The last team to do so in the NBA Finals was the 1995 Orlando Magic, who ended up getting swept by the veteran Houston Rockets in a series that many are starting to liken to this year’s Knicks-Spurs matchup.
In any case, Game 4 of the NBA Finals is set for Monday evening in what will be a packed house in New York.
