Ken Rosenthal explains why Arte Moreno selling Angels won’t change Mike Trout’s outlook

With Los Angeles Rams owner Stan Kroenke buying the Los Angeles Angels from Arte Moreno, there could be some who wonder how this will drastically impact the roster, specifically with star Mike Trout. As the Angels era with Moreno and Trout is done, and the star now has Kroenke, this MLB insider would give insight into what the 35-year-old is thinking.

For anybody who thought this sale of Los Angeles could be the breaking point for Trout to demand a trade away from the club and go to a contender, think again. When Ken Rosenthal was asked what Kroenke buying the team means for Trout, the insider explained why it’s likely “nothing.”

“He’s refused to waive his no-trade clause or even entertain a trade, and part of his loyalty stemmed from Arte Moreno giving him two massive contracts. He was loyal to the person who paid him,” Rosenthal said.

“If you’re Mike Trout, you see even at age 35 the chance for this thing to get real good real quickly, and I would expect the Trout, and he has basically said this, he wants to stay still, and why would you think that he would have a different opinion? Here they finally have hope,” Rosenthal continued. “Now he’s going to leave. No, now is the time to stay and maybe be a part of something special. Get to the postseason and actually, for the first time in Mike Trout’s career, maybe even win a postseason game.”

Trout has been with the Angels since the 2011 season, and while his career numbers are impressive, he has yet to win a single postseason game, as Rosenthal mentioned. It remains to be seen if the future is bright for Trout and Los Angeles.
