Mike Tomlin drops Aaron Rodgers truth bomb on Steelers’ Super Bowl chances

Mike Tomlin may no longer be coaching the Pittsburgh Steelers, but he certainly hasn’t stopped believing in his former team.

During an appearance on The Rich Eisen Show, Tomlin was asked whether the Steelers are capable of reaching the Super Bowl in their first season under Mike McCarthy. Before he answered, he let everyone know he is still a big fan of the organization.

“That’s the only reason Aaron [Rodgers] comes back!”

“I certainly do,” Tomlin said. “That’s the only reason Aaron (Rodgers) comes back. He believes it; I believe it. I don’t think he comes back if he doesn’t believe that. They got the bones of having a good unit in all three phases.”

“Certainly, they are not being talked about compared to how others are being talked about, but that can be a good motivator and callis for them as well. I think they have high expectations, and I think they should have high expectations.”

Rodgers returning for another season certainly raised expectations in Pittsburgh, especially after the Steelers reunited him with McCarthy. The two won a Super Bowl together in Green Bay, and they’ll now try to accomplish something similar in Pittsburgh.

Tomlin knows this roster better than almost anyone evaluating it from the outside. He coached many of these players and spent Rodgers’ first season in Pittsburgh alongside him. Now, he’ll get to evaluate his former team from a completely different perspective.

Tomlin joined NBC’s Football Night in America as a studio analyst after stepping down from the Steelers, meaning Pittsburgh fans should still hear plenty from their former coach throughout the season.
