Yankees rumors: Insider gets 100% real on Brian Cashman, Aaron Boone’s job security

The New York Yankees have been up and down in recent weeks, picking up a win over the Los Angeles Angels on Wednesday night to push their record to 8-60 with one month to go in the regular season. The Yankees have navigated most of this year without superstar Aaron Judge, who is hoping to return from his ribcage injury at some point before the playoffs arrive.

Recently, MLB insider Robert Murray of FanSided broke down the job security of Yankees manager Aaron Boone and general manager Brian Cashman as the playoffs approach.

“…both Cashman and Boone have done a very good job in New York. Cashman is a surefire Hall of Fame executive. Boone is very good at his job and like I mentioned with Lovullo, would be hired in a second if he was ever let go. I firmly expect both to remain with the Yankees beyond the 2026 season. They do not feel like they are in any danger of being let go,” he reported.

Indeed, both Cashman and Boone have garnered mostly good reviews for their work in New York. The Yankees haven’t won a World Series since the 2009 season, but the team has been in contention for most of the years since then, most recently making it to the game’s biggest stage in 2024, when they lost to the Los Angeles Dodgers.

This year, the Yankees are expected to once again have a good shot at making it back to the World Series, with their biggest competition in the AL being the divisional rival Tampa Bay Rays. Even if New York doesn’t break the drought this year, it seems that Cashman and Boone don’t have anything to worry about moving forward.
