Jon Jones agrees to break 15-year streak to earn huge showdown on UFC White House card

Jon Jones is willing to go to extreme lengths to ensure he will secure a place on the UFC White House bill.

Jones immediately registered his interest in headlining the UFC White House event when it was announced in August.

Jones is one UFC contender that has repeatedly voiced his intention of being on the card

He promptly reversed his retirement decision to re-join the promotion’s drug testing pool, with the hopes of gaining UFC president Dana White‘s approval to fight.

Although he was met with apprehension from White, who insisted he wouldn’t trust ‘Bones’ with the responsibility of headlining such a prestigious card.

After making numerous failed pleas to change White’s mind, Jones has made a new plan to ensure he will be involved.

The two-weight world champion has revealed that for the first time in 15 years, he would accept a fight even if it’s not the main event or with a title on the line.

When asked about the possibility of breaking the streak, he responded: “Absolutely.”

Since beating Ryan Bader at UFC 126 in 2011, ‘Bones’ hasn’t fought on a UFC event in anything other than a title fight or at the top of the card.

His change of heart comes after verbally agreeing to face Alex Pereira at the White House, but without a title on the line it would likely fall earlier in proceedings.

That doesn’t seem to faze ‘Bones’ who said he would “absolutely” take the fight with Pereira elsewhere on the card, despite his impressive streak at the top.

Will Jon Jones fight Alex Pereira at the White House?

After Pereira reclaimed the light heavyweight crown at UFC 320, he issued a called-out to Jones.

On the About Last Fight show, he said: “Heavyweight [is the most probable next move]… I want a super fight.

“It would be at the White House, against Jon Jones. That’s a super fight.”

Jones responded on social media: “Alex, I’d be down to bring the highest skill level to the White House.

“I appreciate the respect you showed. Let’s dance.”

Jones is certainly hoping to get the greenlight to take on fellow two-weight champion Pereira in the Octagon next year.

While the odds don’t seem to be in his favour, Jones vs Pereira seems like too big of an opportunity for the UFC CEO to miss.

White has made it clear that he won’t be making announcements on the exact match-ups until February 2026, but has vowed to make it the ‘baddest’ ever card.

With Conor McGregor reportedly being the frontrunner to occupy the headline spot, only time will tell who White bestows the honour upon.
