Is Knicks’ OG Anunoby playing in Game 3 vs. 76ers after Game 2 injury scare?

The New York Knicks will be looking to go up 3-0 in their series against the Philadelphia 76ers, and they’ll have to steal one on the road for that to happen. The Knicks comfortably won Game 1 and executed down the stretch of Game 2 to win that game, and it’s uncertain how this one could end up going.

Unfortunately, the Knicks have a few key players on their injury report, and it’s one to keep an eye out for. OG Anunoby is listed on the injury report with a right hamstring strain after suffering it late in Game 2. Anunoby has dealt with hamstring strains before, but reports say this one isn’t too serious.

Anunoby is listed as questionable against the 76ers, and it looks like his status will be up in the air until closer to gametime. Hamstring strains are not to be taken lightly, and they usually need more time to recover from than you think.

As for Anunoby, he understands that after dealing with a strain in the 2024 playoffs when the Knicks faced the Indiana Pacers in the second round. Anunoby didn’t return to the series until Game 7, and it was obvious that he wasn’t going to be able to play the entire game after looking at how he was moving up and down the court.

With that in mind, and with it being the same player, the Knicks may be cautious with Anunoby. This time around, they have the depth to overcome the injury, and other players will have to step up in his absence.

Anunoby has played well during the postseason, and something to take into account is his efficiency. The Knicks will miss that for the time being, but it’ll be best if he recovers at full strength before rushing back.
