The Oklahoma City Thunder will attempt to take a commanding 2-0 lead during their second-round series against the Los Angeles Lakers on Thursday. They will remain without Jalen Williams for the matchup.

The Thunder ruled Williams out for Game 2, making his fourth consecutive absence due to a left hamstring strain. Williams suffered the strain, which Oklahoma City called a Grade 1 injury, on April 22 during Game 2 of their first-round series against the Phoenix Suns.

A Grade 1 strain typically has a return timetable of 1-2 weeks. However, there have been no reports of Williams being close to returning. Thunder head coach Mark Daigneault said on Wednesday that Williams has not conducted any high-intensity scrimmages, according to Clemente Almanza.

Williams has battled through an injury-plagued season, playing in just 33 regular-season games due to multiple wrist and hamstring ailments. He’s remained effective when available.

The 6-foot-5 guard averaged 17.1 points, 4.6 rebounds and 5.5 assists on 48.4 percent shooting during the regular season. He’s averaged 20.5 points, 4.0 rebounds and 5.0 assists in just 26.0 minutes per game while shooting 16-of-26 (61.5 percent) from the field and 4-of-8 from three across his pair of playoff appearances.

The Thunder have continued to look like the NBA’s team to beat during Williams’ numerous absences. They posted a 39-10 record in games he missed during the regular season and have yet to lose a game in the playoffs.

The Lakers will remain without Luka Doncic (left hamstring strain) in Game 2. Meanwhile, Luke Kennard (neck soreness) is questionable, while Jarred Vanderbilt (right finger dislocation) is doubtful.
