Heat rumors: Brian Windhorst stirs LeBron-to-Miami pot before free agency

With the Miami Heat making the blockbuster trade for Giannis Antetokounmpo and Bobby Portis Jr., the basketball world is now wondering who the team will get next to round out the roster, and whether a player like LeBron James will be a possibility. As rumors are linking James to the Heat, an NBA insider would also make the connection interestingly.

While it seems like it will still be a long shot for James and Miami to reunite after winning two championships and reaching four straight NBA Finals in the early 2010s, Brian Windorst would drop a nugget that could cause a stir. As it remains to be seen what James decides with the Los Angeles Lakers, he could enter free agency.

What Brian Windhorst said about LeBron James and the Heat

Windhorst would speak with Bryan Curis on “The Press Box” and spoke about how he admires the Heat organization with president Pat Riley. After speaking on it, he would say that he feels that James “might feel somewhat the same.”

“But I admire the Heat organization so much, and I value the relationships that are created in those years, and I look back and I learned so much covering that team, and I learned so much listening to Pat Riley when he would talk to us, you know, three or four times a year, five times a year, I learned so much,” Windhorst said, video posted by @dru_star on X, formerly Twitter.

“What it meant to cover a team like that,” Windhorst continued. “I learned so much about the Heat mentality, which I still have so much admiration for. I learned so much about how they conduct themselves with professionalism and class. I’ve got nothing but wonderful, positive things to say about what I experienced in Miami, which, by the way, I think LeBron might feel somewhat the same. Because he still, you know, mimics some of the stuff that Pat Riley and Erik Spoelstra would say.”
