Bayless recently joined forces with Underdog and could reportedly work alongside Arenas on a football-focused project. But shortly after the episode aired, Arenas made comments during a livestream that raised questions about his future involvement with the platform.

The former Washington Wizards guard admitted he feels uneasy about how Underdog views him at this stage of the partnership. Arenas suggested that reactions from viewers and producers may have created an environment where people believe the show can continue without him.

“I’m not sure they like ME anymore,” Arenas said. “When people start writing the team is better without them, that player reads it.”

The three-time NBA All-Star also noted that he currently remains away because he considers himself on “Finals duty,” not focused on this version of the program.

Back in October, Arenas revealed he sold 50 percent of Gil’s Arena to Underdog. Under that arrangement, the company took over responsibilities tied to staffing and channel operations while reducing the show’s weekly schedule to two episodes.

Those recent remarks now leave uncertainty surrounding how much creative and on-air control Arenas still holds moving forward. Meanwhile, Bayless stepping into the chair only added more attention to the situation as fans continue speculating.
