Steelers rumors: Joey Porter Jr. emerging as trade target for multiple teams

A typhoon of uncertainty has engulfed Joey Porter Jr. ahead of his fourth season with the Pittsburgh Steelers, and there is actually a possibility that it carries him to another team. The 6-foot-2 cornerback is drawing plenty of attention.

“Steelers CB Joey Porter Jr. is a name multiple teams around the NFL have wondered about as a potential trade target, per sources,” NFL insider Jordan Schultz reported on X. “JPJ is in the final year of his rookie contract, and with where the CB market is, teams have wondered if Pittsburgh could ultimately be open to a move with the Pro Bowl caliber corner.”

Porter recently turned 26 and is solid in coverage, so there is incentive for Pittsburgh to keep him. However, a rising cornerback market and a potentially icy standing with the Mike McCarthy-led coaching staff greatly complicates his future with the team. The No. 32 overall selection in the 2023 NFL Draft will become a free agent after the 2026 season concludes.
