Watch Fever’s Caitlin Clark get absolutely heated at Paige Bueckers after foul

Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark, for better or for worse, wears her heart on her sleeve every time she’s on the court. While that passion is what fuels her to great heights, this can also sometimes bleed into animated frustrations on the hardwood. On Thursday night, Clark nearly lost it after Dallas Wings star Paige Bueckers fouled her intentionally to stop the play in the dying embers of the first half with the Wings still having a foul to give.

Bueckers tried to navigate a screen, but when Clark got the stop on her, she decided to pull the Fever star’s left hand. The officials didn’t blow the whistle immediately, so the Wings star didn’t stop tugging on Clark’s limb. This drew the ire of Clark, who swiped her left hand to ward off Bueckers before throwing the ball in frustration just as the referee called the foul.

Clark took exception to Bueckers’ foul, but the Wings star was insistent that she was simply doing her defensive duties. She then urged Clark to calm down, giving a wry smile as the two walked away from one another.

Bueckers’ foul could have been dangerous, so the officials should have been more alert in blowing the whistle, knowing that the Wings had a foul to give. Referees tend to be more aggressive with the whistle when they know teams are about to foul intentionally, so they should have been more cognizant of the game state at the time of Bueckers’ foul on the Fever star.

Clark must have felt as though she was in danger of an injury via that foul from Bueckers, which led to that kind of reaction. But all is well that ends well, especially when the Fever still scored two points to tie the game at the halftime interval.

At the time of writing, however, the Wings have regained the lead, 72-64, in the early goings of the fourth quarter.
