Friday Royal Ascot horse racing tips

Sun Goddess

Aidan O’Brien has been getting his two-year-olds well-prepped for Royal Ascot this season and this filly looked incredibly game at Curragh last time out.

O’Brien loves winning this race with three claims to victory since 2016 and the Sioux Nation filly has the look of a horse ready to strike here.

She is well ahead on the ratings and is the massive favourite clear ahead of the rest of the field.

Coppull

Venetian Sun is a similarly priced favourite with the rest of the field well out in the odds in comparison.

The filly beat Division by three lengths last time out confirming her ability and thriving over the drop back in trip to 6f.

Can easily be forgiven for coming 11th in the 1000 Guineas with 1m clearly not suiting but still only six lengths off.

This is widely competitive though as these sprints are often decided with just the smallest of margins and turning up on the day with only three favourites having won this race in the last ten renewals, is a great example of that.

Low draws seem to have a slight advantage here and that’s a negative to the favourite who could certainly be taken on.

Coppull won the Commonwealth Cup Trial in May and ought to be sided with here at this massive price as I could see him turning things up as a three-year-old.

Opportunity

Struggled in the King Edward VII last year but this is a horse that has beaten Rahiebb.

Gelded in July and came back in May with a solid run in third over course and distance last month.

Then took things up at Carlisle to win by over two lengths prompting an 8lb rise from the handicapper.

Should still be on the up and could show what he’s capable of here.

True Love

Now it’s time for the Group 1 Coronation Stakes, the big feature race of Friday.

Precise is the odds-on favourite for this having proven herself last time out in the Irish 1000 Guineas.

But she did lose to True Love by 5 lengths at Newmarket in the 1000 Guineas and I think True Love ridden by Wayne Lordan can reverse the form and beat her stablemate again.
