Fever’s Caitlin Clark all smiles after a special visit from basketball great

Former Phoenix Mercury head coach and general manager Cheryl Miller has had an eventful time of late. She was recently announced as a WNBA studio analyst for NBC Sports, marking her return to national coverage for the first time since 2013.

Recently, she also visited the Indiana Fever training camp to meet with a range of stars, including Caitlin Clark, per a post on Instagram by the franchise’s official account. Among a range of pictures and a clip in which she can be seen talking to multiple players, Miller is also understood to have spent time with none other than Clarke.

The two got a picture together in which a beaming CC can be seen posting alongside the 62-year-old, who had her arms around Clark’s shoulder. Of course, Miller was also recently recognized by the Associated Press as one of the greatest players of the women’s college basketball poll era, alongside Breanna Stewart, based on a 13-member panel vote.

At the collegiate level with USC Trojans women’s basketball, Miller produced one of the most statistically complete careers in the history of the game. Across four seasons, she averaged 23.6 points, 12.0 rebounds, 3.2 assists, 3.6 steals, and 2.5 blocks per game.

She led USC to back-to-back NCAA championships in 1983 and 1984, earning multiple National Player of the Year honors. Miller is also known to have produced a 105-point game during her high school career with Riverside Polytechnic in a game against Norte Vista High School.

While she never herself played in the WNBA, Miller served as head coach and general manager of the Phoenix Mercury, guiding the franchise to the 1998 WNBA Finals in just its second season. Miller added to her resume with an Olympic gold medal in 1984.

She was inducted into the FIBA Hall of Fame back in 2010 for her success at the international level, and continues to be a major figure in women’s basketball.
