Fever surprisingly bans veteran reporter amid Caitlin Clark drama

It’s been a dramatic start to the 2026 season for Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever so far. Between the early struggles, Clark’s bizarre late scratch from one contest, and a sideline eruption between Clark and head coach Stephanie White, the outside noise has been a bit loud in Indiana. On Tuesday, the drama took another turn after the club announced it had banned a veteran reporter from attending team events.

It’s said that reporter Scott Agness of the Fieldhouse Files was banned by the Fever after he allegedly reported on Clark’s late scratch for the Fever’s 90-73 win over the Portland Fire on May 20, according to Front Office Sports. Agness had claimed that Clark’s absence was a strategic plan for Indiana, but the franchise is denying that reporting entirely.

“Veteran reporter Scott Agness says his Fever credentials were revoked after he reported that Caitlin Clark’s late scratch before a game was ‘part of a strategic management plan,'” said Front Office Sports. “Agness says the team barred him for what it deemed ‘inaccurate and unsubstantiated information.'”

Fever head coach Stephanie White stated that the reason the three-year veteran was a late scratch from the May 20 contest against the Fire was due to a minor back injury. Caitlin Clark was not on the injury report the previous day of the matchup. Due to how everything played out, the WNBA officially warned the organization for failing to submit a timely injury report.

While the drama continues to hang over the Fever like a dark cloud, the club just hopes to right the ship and get back on track this season. Caitlin Clark has been solid to begin the campaign. Through seven games played, the two-time All-Star is averaging 20.1 points, 4.0 rebounds, 8.1 assists, and 1.3 steals per contest while shooting 39.3% from the field and 33.3% from beyond the three-point line.
