England fans banned from doing two things at World Cup games – and could be booted out of stadium

England fans risk being ejected from World Cup stadiums if they sing anti-Keir Starmer chants.

Supporters have also been banned from bringing unsanctioned flags to matches during this summer’s tournament.

The Three Lions begin their campaign against Croatia at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas on Wednesday.

Kick-off is scheduled for 9pm BST, with the match live on talkSPORT.

However, fans could land the FA in hot water if chants targeted at the Prime Minister are belted out in the stands.

A song which proclaimed Starmer is a ‘w*****’ could be heard from a vocal section of fans during last week’s friendly against Costa Rica.

The FA is said to be aware of the chants targeting the Prime Minister.

FIFA’s stadium code states that fans must ‘not use offensive language or gestures’ when attending matches.

Meanwhile, stadium rules in the USA also allow for supporters to be removed from the venue for using offensive language.

England flag rules

Fans must also adhere to strict rules on England flags throughout the World Cup.

Images of the St. George’s Cross draped in the stands have become synonymous with Three Lions supporters at major tournaments.

They regularly depict club badges and slogans, with similar flags on show against Costa Rica in Orlando.

However, written permission is required for flags larger than 2m x 1.5m to be taken into stadiums this summer.

Approval must be given before fans arrive at the venue for a match, with pictures needing to be sent as part of the application.

Supporters must also be wary of displaying flags depicting weapons, including those which honour fallen British servicemen and women.

Images of poppies are understood to be permitted on flags.

An FA spokeswoman, via The Sun, explained: “We have advised our fans that FIFA can prevent flags with sensitive or political content entering the stadiums.

“Our team are on hand at the ground to help review flags if needed to avoid any problems occurring.”

Following their match against Croatia, England face Ghana in Foxborough, Massachusetts on Tuesday, June 17.

The Three Lions’ final fixture in group L is against Panama on Saturday, June 27 at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
