Mets rumors: Francisco Lindor ‘off limits’ in trade talks despite potential sell-off
The New York Mets are expected to part ways with several players in the next few days, as the Major League Baseball trade deadline approaches. One player though appears to be safe, according to a new report. That is star infielder Francisco Lindor.
“The Mets are telling teams they are prepared to trade starter Clay Holmes quickly. He is not scheduled to make another start before Monday’s deadline. They also are trying to trade starter Freddy Peralta, and have no plans to sign him to an extension. They also have informed teams that shortstop Francisco Lindor is off limits for now,” Bob Nightengale wrote for USA Today.
This season Lindor has hit at a .233 batting average. The shortstop has nine home runs and 25 RBIs. His production is down from last season.
The Mets have had yet another season to forget. New York has struggled throughout the campaign, before finally parting ways with former manager Carlos Mendoza. The team is dead last in the National League East.
Who will be leaving the Mets?

While New York is expected to trade away players, ESPN insider Jeff Passan has said this will be more of a “bloodletting.” That means that New York is not expected to decimate the current roster. Time will tell if this is what actually happens.
One Mets player who may be leaving is starting pitcher Freddy Peralta. An ESPN report thinks the Milwaukee Brewers would be a great landing spot for the pitcher.
“Peralta hasn’t had a good season with a 4.99 ERA and was nearly in tears after his start on Sunday, telling reporters that he “let down” the organization and the fans. If there’s a team willing to take a chance on Peralta, however, it should be Milwaukee, where he went 17-6 with a 2.70 ERA in 2025. The Brewers could trade for Peralta and also add a reliever while still keeping all their top prospects,” David Schoenfield wrote for ESPN.
New York has a 47-64 record on the campaign. The Mets are in action on Saturday against the Miami Marlins. MLB’s trade deadline is on Monday.
