Eagles’ Vic Fangio loves what he’s seeing from Jalen Carter after massive extension

After plenty of summer speculation and rumblings about his future, Howie Roseman closed the door on any speculation about how the Philadelphia Eagles feel about Jalen Carter, signing the 25-year-old defensive tackle to a record-breaking $152 million contract.

And so far, the returns have more than matched Carter’s lofty market-setting valuation.

Need proof? Well, look no further than Vic Fangio’s comments on Wednesday during his media availability session, with the veteran defensive coordinator giving props to his star defensive tackle for coming to camp ready for action.

“He’s had a good camp up to this point,” Fangio said. “He’s doing the little things better, which when you’re in good shape, the little things are done better because when you’re not in good shape, and you’re just kind of getting through practice, the little things suffer. I think he’s doing a much, much better job and really excited for what the possibilities are with him.”

Standing 6-foot-3, 314 pounds, Carter has rapidly established himself as one of the very best defensive tackles in football, with opposing teams having to specifically gameplan their offense around double-teaming the “Young Rhino.”

While his 2025 stats were slightly below his 2024 high-water mark in large part due to injury, he still made the Pro Bowl and was able to parlay his cornerstone contributions into a contract number no other player has matched over the past 105 years of NFL football. If Fangio is correct and Carter is taking his game up a notch, it will only spell further disaster for opposing offensive lines.
