Dwyane Wade reveals ‘respect’ conversation with Anthony Edwards

Dwyane Wade finally revealed what he told Anthony Edwards during their viral courtside moment in the NBA playoffs, and the message centered around toughness, trust, and respect.

The former Miami Heat star, now working as an analyst for Prime’s NBA coverage, was caught on camera having an intense conversation with the Minnesota Timberwolves guard during Game 3. Fans immediately speculated about what Wade told one of the league’s brightest young stars.

Wade later explained that he wanted Edwards to attack defenders with more force despite not feeling fully healthy.

“I was talking to him about bringing the physicality when it came to him hitting first on his drives to the basket,” Wade said via WY Network. “His coach said he’s playing at 60%.”

Wade also made it clear that the admiration between the two guards runs both ways.

Edwards has studied Wade’s game for years

The relationship between the two stars did not begin with that playoff exchange. Earlier this postseason, Edwards admitted he regularly watches Wade highlights to improve his defense around the rim.

“I just be watching Dwyane Wade clips,” Edwards said. “He would beat sh-t at the rim, so I just be trying to beat sh-t at the rim.”

Wade built a reputation as one of the best shot-blocking guards in NBA history, finishing his career with more than 885 blocks. His ability to rotate defensively and erase shots helped define his Hall of Fame career.

Now Edwards continues carrying that same aggressive style into Minnesota’s playoff run. After reaching the Western Conference Finals last season, the Timberwolves entered this year with championship expectations, and Edwards remains at the center of those hopes.
