Dolphins rumors: De’Von Achane gets intriguing contract extension update

While the Miami Dolphins are in the midst of an organizational reset, running back De’Von Achane is still valued as a key member of their core. However, his future with the team became murky after the running back skipped the beginning of the team’s voluntary offseason workouts.

On Thursday though, there seemed to be at least some form of progress towards a resolution. Achane was seen in Miami’s facilities, meaning he is still open to a long-term contract with the franchise, via Adam Schefter of ESPN.

“Miami running back De’Von Achane, who was not present for the start of the team’s voluntary off-season workout program last week, was spotted in the Dolphins’ training facility today, per sources,” Schefter wrote. “It is believed that Achane showed up as a sign of good faith as the two sides continue discussing a contract extension, per source.”

Achane is set to be a free agent after the season. The Dolphins need to come to a resolution about his future sooner rather than later. Based on his performance in Miami, he would fetch a pretty hefty price on the open market. But the Dolphins seem more inclined to build around him than trade him away.

Over his three years in Miami, Achane has run for 3,057 yards and 22 touchdowns. He has added another 1,277 yards and 13 touchdowns in the air. Achane was named to the Pro Bowl for the first time in 2025 after running for 1,350 yards and eight touchdowns while gaining 488 yards and four touchdowns through the air.

The running back will be looking to cash in and gain some long-term stability with his next contract. The Dolphins are trying to ensure that deal comes from Miami.
