Dodgers’ Shohei Ohtani gets green light to hit in start vs. Rockies
Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said Shohei Ohtani will hit and pitch on Wednesday night against the Colorado Rockies, according to Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic. Ohtani was hit in the hand during the Dodgers’ 15-6 victory against the Rockies on Tuesday which led to some uncertainty, but he is seemingly fine as he prepares to hit and pitch on Wednesday night.
Ohtani has impressed once again this season. He will be an MVP candidate of course, but Ohtani may even win his first Cy Young.
The 31-year-old is hitting .270/.403/.471 across 50 games played as an offensive player. He has eight home runs and six stolen bases as well. Meanwhile, Ohtani holds a jaw-dropping 0.73 ERA as a pitcher. The Dodgers superstar has also recorded 54 strikeouts in his 49 innings of work.
Shohei Ohtani seems to prefer to hit and pitch when he can. He is surely a fan of being able to receive the opportunity to do both on Wednesday night against the Rockies.
The Dodgers will enter Wednesday night’s contest with a 35-20 overall record. Los Angeles is competing at a high level once again. They currently hold a four-game lead over the San Diego Padres and Arizona Diamondbacks in the National League West standings, who are tied for second place in the division with 31-24 overall records.
Los Angeles will attempt to clinch a series sweep against the Rockies on Wednesday night with Shohei Ohtani leading the way. First pitch for the ball game is scheduled for 10:10 PM EST at Dodger Stadium.
