Dodgers’ Max Muncy, Dalton Rushing scratched just hours before first pitch vs. Nationals

As the Los Angeles Dodgers were without Shohei Ohtani and Freddie Freeman for the 5-3 win over the Washington Nationals on Friday, the absences continue to happen for the club. While there is speculation that Dodgers star Shohei Ohtani will be put on the injured list (IL), the team is dealing with more concerns for Saturday night’s contest.

According to Fabian Ardaya at The Athletic, catcher Dalton Rushing has been scratched from the contest, while Jack Harris of The California Post reports that Max Muncy has also been taken out of Los Angeles’ lineup.

“Dalton Rushing got scratched from the Dodgers lineup,” Ardaya wrote on X, formerly Twitter.

“Max Muncy has also been scratched from tonight’s Dodgers lineup,” Harris wrote in another post.

It looks like Rushing and Muncy weren’t planned to be taken out of the Dodgers’ lineup for Saturday’s outing against the Nationals, as the team’s official X account would dedicate two different posts to “updated lineups.” In the first, Rushing would be replaced by Alex Call at designated hitter, while the second lineup would feature Muncy’s removal at third base for Enrique Hernandez.

At any rate, it remains to be seen what the injuries or issues were for Rushing and Muncy to the point where the two had to be scratched from the team’s lineup. The next chance for the two to play for Los Angeles comes on Sunday in the series finale against the Nationals, as the team is 84-57, which puts them first in the NL West, ahead of Saturday’s game against Washington.
