Diamondbacks’ Torey Lovullo tries to make sense of Ketel Marte’s ‘Bridges I Burn’ hat

Arizona Diamondbacks star Ketel Marte returned to action on Monday after his short hiatus away from the club. However, with the superstar second baseman set to participate in Tuesday’s game against the Philadelphia Phillies, Marte wore a hat with a rather compelling message.

The 32-year-old wore a hat in the Diamondbacks’ locker room that read, “May the Bridges I Burn Light the Way,” according to Bob Nightengale of USA Today Sports. There might be a few ways of interpreting that message, but manager Torey Lovullo may have done some serious mental gymnastics to come up with the most optimistic view point about Marte’s hat.

“I think if you chop up those words, maybe he’s taking some accountability,” Lovullo said. “You know, like he’s he feels like he has done some things, and you want to see it better. That’s all I read.”

This story is currently developing, and more information will be available soon.
