Dalton Rushing’s comments after drama, brutal performance for Dodgers draw mixed reactions

On Wednesday, the Los Angeles Dodgers continued their winning ways with a narrow road win over the Minnesota Twins. Star Shohei Ohtani was on the mound at pitcher for the Dodgers in this game, and a controversial moment occurred during the second inning when he appeared to have a disagreement with catcher Dalton Rushing about both what kind of pitch to throw, as well as his decision to challenge a call.

After the game, Rushing took accountability for his mistakes, which also included an 0-4 night at the plate, with three strikeouts.

“They always have my back. It’s embarrassing that I need support like that… Hasn’t been great as of late. I’m gonna be better,” said Rushing, per SportsNet LA on X, formerly Twitter.

Fans in the comment section had a mixed reaction to Rushing’s statement after the game.

“F*** his excuses!! He’s another Jazz Chisolm, put him in the Skubal trade or move him somewhere else. Too immature to handle the Dodgers spotlight. Not to mention showing up Ohtani,” wrote one fan.

“Yea here’s a thought. Your a rook don’t challenge the MVP and ace of the rotation. If he tells you it’s a challenge you stfu real quick,” added another.

However, others took a more positive approach to Rushing taking accountability.

“What he said right there is a sign of maturing. He recognizes his mistakes and vows to be better. I’m rooting for him,” wrote one fan.

The good news is that Rushing clearly seems to recognize the error in his ways from Wednesday and looks to be committed to getting better in the future.

In any case, the Dodgers are next slated to take on the field on Friday against the San Diego Padres.
