Cubs complete bonkers win vs. Rockies in walk-off fashion

Shaw’s patient at-bat sealed the comeback when he took ball four with the bases loaded, sending the winning run home and giving the Cubs another late-game answer.

The ending fit a night that already had a historic centerpiece. Pete Crow-Armstrong hit for the cycle, recording MLB’s first cycle of the 2026 season and the first of his career.

Crow-Armstrong homered in the first, tripled in the third, doubled in the fifth, and singled in the seventh. He became the first left-handed Cub to hit for the cycle since Mark Grace in 1993.

The game still found another layer of weirdness after that milestone. Crow-Armstrong got picked off first base right after completing the cycle, even as the crowd rose to recognize the moment.
