Brewers’ Kyle Harrison gives encouraging injury update after strong rehab start

Kyle Harrison, who has been a revelation for the Milwaukee Brewers in 2026, is currently on the injured list with a forearm injury. He last pitched for the Brewers on the eighth of July, a four-inning outing in a loss to the St. Louis Cardinals, and now, it looks as though he is on the precipice of returning to the big-league roster.

On Thursday, Harrison made a rehab start for the Brewers’ Single-A affiliate, the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers. He pitched 5.2 innings and threw 68 pitches in what was a promising performance. He did strike out five while allowing just one hit and three walks.

It’s not quite clear when the Brewers will be bringing him back to the big leagues. But the good news for Milwaukee is that Harrison seems to be progressing very well in his rehab, and a return could be in the cards as soon as next week.

“Forearm felt great. Felt nothing, so I’ll just keep going and see where it takes me next,” Harrison said, per Todd Rosiak of Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. “I think [I’m close to returning to MLB]. We’ll see, but that’s what I’m hoping for. Hopefully next week sometime.”

Harrison has blossomed into a full-time starter with the Brewers, as they continue to be one of the best teams in MLB despite their yearly roster churn. On the season, the 24-year-old lefty is sporting an ERA of 3.01, which is backed up by impressive peripherals, particularly his 10.86 strikeout rate per nine innings.

The Brewers acquired him in the trade that sent Caleb Durbin, Andruw Monasterio, and Anthony Seigler to the Boston Red Sox, and suffice to say, they have to be very pleased with what they’ve gotten from Harrison.

Harrison won’t even be entering arbitration until 2028, and he’s already this good of a starting pitcher for the Brewers. And he’ll surely be getting the chance to continue his strong 2026 campaign for Milwaukee some time next week, barring an unforeseen setback in his recovery.
