CM Punk takes in Golden Knights’ West Final sweep of Avalanche during WWE hiatus

Among the thousands in attendance as the Vegas Golden Knights swept the Colorado Avalanche in the West Final of the NHL conference finals was currently on-hiatus WWE Superstar CM Punk.

The Golden Knights and the NHL gave Punk a shoutout for his appearance at the game. He was sporting a hoodie from the Hulu series Shoresy, representing the fictional Sudbury Bulldogs team.

Perhaps it was somewhat surprising to see the “Voice of the Voiceless” there. After all, the Chicago native is a hardcore Blackhawks fan. Granted, they finished in last place in the Central Division.

Punk has been on a hiatus from WWE since WrestleMania 42. He lost the World Heavyweight Championship to Roman Reigns, who has since successfully defended it once against Jacob Fatu, in the main event of the show.

Reports have since surfaced indicating that he’s “awaiting creative” direction from higher-ups. That may explain why Fatu launched into a feud with Reigns instead of Punk getting a rematch. Gunther was also plucked from Monday Night RAW and moved to Friday Night SmackDown since WrestleMania.

Whenever he does return, expect Punk to continue being a main event player in WWE. His recent World Heavyweight Championship reign lasted 169 days after winning it at the November 2025 Saturday Night’s Main Event PLE. He defeated Jey Uso to win the then-vacated title.

Punk returned to WWE in November 2023 at the Survivor Series: WarGames PLE. This marked his return to the company after nearly a decade. What once looked impossible became a reality at Survivor Series.

During his time away, he tried his hand at MMA, competing in the UFC, before returning to professional wrestling in 2021. He was part of AEW’s roster from 2021 to 2023. He was a two-time AEW World Champion during his time with the promotion.
