Darnell Wright injury casts shadow on Bears’ training camp practice

The Chicago Bears suffered an injury scare involving offensive tackle Darnell Wright during Tuesday’s practice as the team prepares to close out its preseason against the Tennessee Titans on Saturday at 6 p.m. ET on NFL Network.

Wright exited red-zone drills after participating in just two plays, raising questions about his availability with the 2026 regular season approaching.

ESPN’s Courtney Cronin reported Tuesday via X, formerly known as Twitter.

“Darnell Wright came out of red zone drills after 2 plays and was replaced by Theo Benedet at right tackle. Trainers took off the brace on his right elbow as he stayed on the sideline for a bit. He’s now headed back into the building.”

The Bears have yet to announce the severity of Wright’s apparent injury or a potential timetable for his return.

Wright has developed into an important piece of Chicago’s offensive line since the Bears selected him with the No. 10 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. Any extended absence would create another concern for the offense heading into the regular season.

Chicago enters its preseason finale looking to bounce back from a 27-9 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals on Saturday.

Following the matchup with Tennessee, the Bears will turn their attention toward Week 1. Chicago opens the 2026 regular season on the road against the Carolina Panthers on Sept. 13 at 1 p.m. ET on FOX.
