Clemson could be without key right tackle against LSU

The Clemson Tigers and LSU Tigers both uncharacteristically finished outside of the final AP Top 25 poll at the end of last season and are hoping for a big-name win to start of the 2026 season on a high note tonight at 7:30 p.m. ET at Tiger Stadium in Baton Rouge, La.

Clemson coach Dabo Swinney has finally started to enjoy the NIL and transfer portal era and is hoping to guide his Tigers to the College Football Playoff.

Prior to the game, Swinney’s Tigers released their injury report, and it included a key name who could greatly affect his team’s offense against LSU. Veteran right tackle Collin Sadler is listed as questionable for tonight’s game after entering the week as the team’s projected starter and working at the position throughout training camp.

Sadler is a fifth-year senior who brings versatility to Clemson’s offensive line. He started nine games last season, including seven at left guard and two at left tackle. At 6-foot-6, 310 pounds, the Inman, South Carolina native is one of the most important players on an offensive line unit that has been tasked with replacing four starters from last year’s team.

Sadler was expected to take the place of departed former right tackle Blake Miller, who held the position since 2022 and is now projected to start for the NFL’s Detroit Lions. Swinney said before the season that he has been pleased with his team’s offensive line during fall camp in light of the circumstances.

“I think the first group’s been really good,” Swinney said via SI. “I’ve been really pleased with those guys. I think we got some alphas in that group. I’ve been really pleased.”

If Sadler can’t play, Clemson is expected to start redshirt freshman Easton Ware, a 6-foot-5, 310-pound tackle from Lynchburg, Virginia, who has yet to start in a Clemson uniform. Ware missed the 2025 season with a shoulder injury but has a strong high school football background as a former four-star prospect who has impressed in practice situations.

The line will be tasked with protecting quarterback Christopher Vizzina, who will face off against LSU starter Sam Leavitt, who has impressed in fall camp.
