Chiefs’ Patrick Mahomes spotted brace-free during family Texas trip in Brittany Mahomes’ IG post

Just four months after suffering a torn ACL, Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes was seen without a brace in his wife Brittany‘s new Instagram post from their family trip to Texas.

Brittany recently shared a bunch of pictures from the Mahomes family’s trip to their home state of Texas. It’s great to see Patrick enjoying family time before the offseason program begins. What’s most notable is that he is seen without a brace on his knee in several pictures.

This is a great sign for the three-time Super Bowl champion. Mahomes is just four months removed from suffering his torn ACL, and with about five months to go before the start of the 2026 NFL season, he’s on a great pace to be back under center.

Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes’ ACL tear

On Dec. 14, 2025, the Chiefs played their division rivals, the Los Angeles Chargers. Mahomes suffered a torn ACL late in the game, ending his season.

The Chiefs were struggling, even with Mahomes under center. They went 6-8 with him under center, and Mahomes had 3,587 passing yards, 22 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions through 14 games. He also rushed for a career-high 422 yards and five touchdowns.

It got even worse after Mahomes’ injury. The Chiefs went 0-3 without him, and their backup quarterback, Gardner Minshew, suffered a season-ending injury the following week. Chris Oladokun and Shane Buechele finished the season as the Chiefs’ quarterbacks.

The Chiefs finished 6-11 and missed the playoffs for the first time since Mahomes became the team’s starting quarterback. This was a disappointing year after a year in which they lost to the Philadelphia Eagles in the Super Bowl.

Now, Mahomes and the Chiefs are hoping to rebound in 2026. They have already won three Super Bowls (and have been to two more) in Mahomes’ time as the quarterback. They are hoping to add a fourth Lombardi Trophy to the team’s trophy case.
