Chiefs fans love Travis Kelce’s unseen sideline exchange with player Patrick Mahomes calls ‘a warrior’

Here come the Kansas City Chiefs.

Yes, Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs are just 6-5 and currently outside the playoff picture, but their dramatic overtime comeback against the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday was a reminder that this team still has championship DNA.

That was never more evident than in the moment Travis Kelce pulled Kareem Hunt aside on the sideline and shared a powerful embrace.

Hunt had fumbled in the fourth quarter with the Chiefs trailing the Colts 20–9, and Kelce immediately went over to him, put his arms around him, and reminded the running back that they were going to need him.

Kansas City responded with 11 points in the fourth quarter to force overtime, where they pulled out a 23–20 win, with Hunt finishing the day with 104 rushing yards and a touchdown.

It marked the Chiefs’ first 100-yard rushing performance by a single player all season.

Fans noticed the exchange between Kelce and Hunt and they loved it, applauding the tight end’s leadership.

“Perfect example of leadership,” one fan commented on X.

“They won’t be able to replace that in the draft easily,” another fan said.

“Trav is a real one,” one more fan added.

Mahomes himself said he was impressed by how Hunt responded after the crucial mistake.

“He’s a warrior, man,” Mahomes said.

talkSPORT reacts...The Kansas City Chiefs are going to make the playoffs

Would you really bet against Andy Reid and Mahomes to not make the postseason?

Sure, things don’t look great at 6-5, but this is a team that has played in three straight Super Bowls. They just beat one of the best teams in the AFC and Mahomes played one of the best games of the season.

They are only one game back from the seventh seed. Their remaining six games are…

@ Cowboys – vs. Texans – vs. Chargers – @ Titans – vs. Broncos – @ Raiders

There are wins to be had. It won’t be easy, but you’d be foolish to bet against #15 in Kansas City.

“He truly is. I’ve known that since the day I met him. And I thought it was awesome to see how he just responded over and over again.

“If a run got stuffed, the next run he’d get five, six yards, battle through tackles, break tackles and then the offensive line took it upon themselves to get that push that we needed.

“That speaks a ton to the people that we have up front and then him and the way he’s able to run the football.”

The Chiefs are now set for a massive Thanksgiving tilt against the Dallas Cowboys that is sure to capture the nation’s attention.

It is remarkably Mahomes and Kelce’s first time playing on Thanksgiving.

At just 6-5, the Chiefs don’t have much room for error, currently sitting as the 10th seed in the AFC. But if Sunday was any indication of the Mahomes we’re about to see for the rest of the season, the outlook is promising.

If the Chiefs can pull out a win against the Cowboys and get to 7-5, all of a sudden everything feels very much at play.

And that should terrify the rest of the league.
