Chelsea approach the weekend clash in high spirits after extending their winning run to four matches with a hard earned 3-2 victory away to Napoli on Wednesday night.
That result secured Liam Rosenior’s side a sixth-place finish in the Champions League league phase, booking their spot in the last 16 for the first time in three years and crucially allowing them to bypass the two-legged play-off round.
Since succeeding Enzo Maresca, the new Blues head coach has enjoyed an impressive start, winning five of his opening six matches in charge. Last weekend’s 3-1 triumph over Crystal Palace lifted Chelsea into fifth place in the Premier League, leaving them just one point adrift of the top four.

West Ham, meanwhile, travel across the capital in good form themselves and will be aiming to make it four straight wins in all competitions when they take to the pitch under the Sky Sports lights on Saturday night.
However, despite their recent upturn, Nuno Espirito Santo’s side remain in a precarious position in the league standings. The Hammers sit 18th in the table, five points adrift of safety, and still have significant ground to make up.
Their struggles on the road have been a particular issue, with just one away win in all competitions since August – although that victory did come in their most recent away fixture, a win over Tottenham two weeks ago.
Recent meetings with Chelsea have also proven difficult for the east London side. The Blues have won each of the last four encounters between the teams, outscoring West Ham 15-2 in the process, while the Hammers have been beaten on each of their last five visits to Stamford Bridge.
