Carlos Mendoza received Aaron Boone message amid Mets’ abysmal losing streak

The vibes are not great right now with the New York Mets, as they’re riding a 12-game losing streak, which is the worst in the league. They’re currently 7-16, and though there has been a lot of optimism that they’ll get out of the rut, they also have to acknowledge that things just aren’t going well for them at the moment, and they need to play better.

There’s probably a lot of pressure on manager Carlos Mendoza at the moment, and in during these times, you just need somebody to lean on. One of those people for him has been New York Yankees manager Aaron Boone, who said on Foul Territory TV that he recently spoke with Mendoza.

“Mendy and I are really close, so we’re usually in contact,” Boone said. “There’s probably four or five managers that I keep in regular contact with and we check in with each other… I would put Carlos in that category. Typically, we talk every few weeks. I talked to him a few days ago just to check in and be supportive. They’re obviously going through it, and I can understand that, especially in New York. It’s a challenging time for them.

The Mets have the talent to turn things around, but they’ll have to make a move quickly before it continues to get worse. Mendoza has people in his corner, with no one bigger than owner Steve Cohen, who recently sent the manager a text message, according to Anthony DiComo of MLB.com.

“That was similar to the tone Cohen struck in sending a series of reassuring texts to manager Carlos Mendoza, whose job status came under scrutiny as the Mets lost game after game after game after game — now 12 in a row for those counting, which seems to be just about everyone,” DiComo wrote.
