Cardinals’ Jordan Walker super casually robs Tyler Soderstrom of a home run
The St. Louis Cardinals are taking on the Athletics on Thursday with the hopes of earning a second victory in the three-game series. During the contest, outfielder Jordan Walker made a spectacular play on defense by casually robbing Tyler Soderstrom’s would-be home run.
In the bottom of the third inning, the Athletics’ catcher launched a curveball deep toward right field. Walker, who is 23 years old, chased it down right at the wall, put up his left arm, and caught it with relative ease to record the second out of the inning. The ball was deep enough to be a home run, but the four-year veteran was all over it.

They say the best players in sports make it look easy, and that’s exactly what Jordan Walker did on that play. In fact, that’s been the story for his 2026 campaign, as the former first-round pick in the 2020 MLB Draft is enjoying a breakout year early this season.
On top of his consistency on defense, leading all outfielders in MLB with putouts (91) and assists (4) entering Thursday’s contest, Walker also owns a .290 batting average and .369 OBP, which puts the Cardinals star on pace for the best season of his career. Including Thursday’s numbers, he has totaled 46 hits, 12 home runs, 31 RBIs, and seven stolen bases.
Jordan Walker is playing a crucial role for the Cardinals this season, as the club is right in the mix for the NL Central. Although the franchise is ranked in third place in the division, St. Louis entered the game against the Athletics with an impressive 24-18 record.
