Caleb Lomu’s ‘violent’ mic drop will be music to the ears of Patriots’ Drake Maye

Is New England Patriots QB Drake Maye rising to the top at his position? He could have better protection this year if Mike Vrabel is right about Caleb Lomu. And Lomu’s mic-drop moment about violence should be music to the ears of Maye.

Lomu said he wants to play rough, according to a post on X by Mike Reiss.

They had to wait through 27 picks, but the Patriots added to their offensive line with Lomu. Right now, he’s trying to beat out veteran Morgan Moses for the starting spot at right tackle.

But Lomu said he’s getting help from Moses, according to 985thesportshub.com.

“Being at right tackle and playing a lot of right tackle right now, he’s so helpful in everything that I do,” Lomu told Zolak and Bertrand. “He’s watching all my reps every time I come off the sideline after an indie period or a team rep or anything. He’s coaching me.

“He has all that experience. He’s played with amazing people, and he’s considered one of those great guys. And so, whenever I’m out here, he’s helping with everything. To be able to watch him in every single rep in the team period, see what he does. He’s an amazing player, and being able to watch him and learn from him, it’s been so amazing.”

If Lomu finds a path to a starting spot as a rookie, he could be part of a very solid group in front of Maye. Lomu said he’s like Moses in terms of wanting to be a team guy.

“Just coming out on this field, doing whatever I can to help the team,” Lomu said. “Wherever they need me, that’s where I’m going to go. I’ve been getting lots of reps at lots of different positions. I just love playing football.”
