Bulls rumors: Josh Giddey trade intel as suitors emerge

Chicago Bulls guard Josh Giddey could be on the move this summer, as trade talks are heating up around the NBA, heading into the draft on Tuesday. Although Giddey agreed to a four-year, $100 million contract extension last summer, that deal could be moved under the new regime as a means to improve Chicago’s roster, including potential draft capital. Tiago Splitter was hired as the Bulls’ head coach last week.

The Bulls could strike a deal for Miles Bridges in exchange for Giddey, according to ClutchPoints’ Brett Siegel.

“Other trade rumors around the league leading up to the draft and the start of free agency in roughly a week point to Chicago and Charlotte with Josh Giddey and Miles Bridges, respectively,” Siegel reported. “The Bulls have been willing to hear offers coming their way all offseason, including teams inquiring about Giddey’s potential availability, but I have not received any signals that Chicago is fully open to trading him.

“Giddey just signed a four-year, $100 million extension with the Bulls last offseason. Then again, keep in mind that the deal was given to him by the old Bulls’ front office, and the team could easily address their backcourt with the No. 15 pick.”

Either way, Josh Giddey’s contract is expected to be used as the Bulls’ primary trade chip this summer. He’s expected to be shopped around, with the Hornets projected to be the most likely suitor heading into the draft. Splitter, coming off his lone season as head coach of the Portland Blazers, was mentored by the Spurs’ former head coach, Gregg Popovich.

He also led the Blazers to their first winning season (42-40) in five years.
