Frazer Clarke to return in short-notice secret fight this weekend on rematch bill

Frazer Clarke is expected to make a secret return to the ring this weekend in Leeds.

Clarke hasn’t fought since a majority decision defeat to Justis Huni in April on the Tyson Fury vs Arslanbek Makhmudov undercard at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The defeat marked the 34-year-old’s third in his last four appearances, having dropped to a split decision defeat to Jeamie TKV in a British heavyweight title bout in November 2025.

Just weeks after his defeat to Huni, Clarke told talkSPORT he had been ‘pestering people’ to get back in action, specifically calling for a spot on the potential Anthony Joshua vs Fury blockbuster.

And it looks like the Burton-upon-Trent native will have the chance to re-enter the winning column on the undercard of Troy Williamson’s rematch with Callum Simpson on Saturday.

Speaking to Adam Catterall and Carlton Cole on talkSPORT’s White and Jordan on Thursday, talkSPORT’s own Spencer Oliver broke the news.

“Frazer Clarke is boxing on Saturday night here at Leeds First Direct Bank Arena,” Oliver said.

“So that’s another addition to a really stacked card. I’m really looking forward to this one.

“Callum Simpson vs Troy Williamson — if it lives up to all expectations and is as good as the last one, we’re in for a real treat.”

Clarke’s opponent hasn’t been named, but he is expected to contest a six-round heavyweight bout.

“We’ve always felt that Callum Simpson is levels above this level and that’s what we hope he’ll prove on Saturday night,” Shalom said.

Williamson stunned Simpson when they first met, knocking out his British rival in front of his own fans in the tenth round of their super middleweight clash.

Despite being inundated with offers, Simpson told talkSPORT the Williamson fight was all he wanted next so he can go out and attempt to right the wrongs.

Shalom continued: “It’s a sold-out arena again. It’s even bigger than the first time.

“There’s a lot of bad blood that’s been going on in the last six months as well.

“It’s a huge fight. For me, a complete 50/50 fight. I think it’s massive and it’s gonna be a great fight, but what’s at stake is absolutely enormous for both of them.

“I believe the winner goes on to fight for a world title in the next six months. It’s a huge fight.”

Simpson, who split from long-time trainer Mark Hurley after losing to Williamson last December to join forces with Rob McCracken, was asked what he needs to do differently this time around.

“I’ve watched back the fight a few times,” he responded.

“There’s lots of things I did well and did wrong — just do more of the things I did well and less of the things I did wrong.

“We’ve worked on a lot of things for Troy. It’s not about changing me completely as a fighter — it’s about making slight adjustments to my boxing style.

“I’m not going to go into what we’ve been working on, as I don’t want to give too much away, but we’ve been working on a lot and I’m looking forward to putting on a show on Saturday.”
